“ I order the pigs, ears and tendon, and they are the best I've ever had. My husband and I are obsessed! ”
“ Amazing, tasty, homemade buns, dumplings, and appetizers reminds me of foods I had as a kid. This place is quite busy and sells out of many favorites early, like pork and cabbage buns. Zhang's BBQ Chicken is a misleading name, but it's a definite Must Try! ”
“ I'm also surprised there aren't more reviews because this place was popular before the pandemic. I went late instead of for breakfast or lunch which would have been more appropriate considering doughy items like chives box, green onion pancakes, and steamed baos. To my non-Chinese literate eyes, they seem to have narrowed their menu. Several freezers were full of homemade dumplings. Google Translate https://wemp.app/posts/0e41863c-c7c9-4be8-8d44-bb80167c3349 to get a better idea of their offerings. They charge like 10% for using credit or debit cards, so have cash, or money on a WeChat account (I saw a WeChat QR code). I asked for pork baos, and to my delight she had freshly steamed hot ones in the back. I think I paid $13 for 11 of them? (I didn't count until after I ate some) and it was worth it. Perfect texture and consistency! ”
“ Tried their fresh fried oil stick and soy milk. Super good. We got a box from the cold case (pig ear, beef tendon, etc. ) and frozen dumplings to try. Will update. ”
“ omg i can't believe this place has so few reviews!!! but i think it's a real gem :) my family usually goes to the xi'an restaurant when we stop by the baijia food court; however, this time, i was super craving pig ear salad and zhang's bbq chicken had pig ear salad + much more to choose from in their display case that we decided to change it up a bit!!! they serve their marinated meats by container, and although we got a "small" container for 12 bucks, it was absolutely stuffed to the PRIM with pig ear, tendon, and braised beef slices (probably like over a pound???). all of the meats had a pretty similar marinade that was super delicious and fragrant (mostly chili oil and delightfully salty and balanced), and once we brought it home, it tasted perfect with a splash of chinese black vinegar. BUT THE REAL STAR OF THE SHOW HERE IS THIS PLACE'S STEAMED BUNS. holy cow. first off, they're HUGE. like MASSIVE. each one probably clocks in at a pound, and you get five for 6 dollars. it's insane. also, don't expect your average fluffy mantou. these buns are delightfully dense (in a very good way!!) while still maintaining a fluffy and enjoyable texture. they're also made with a mix of corn flour and wheat flour so imagine the denser version of a mantou but the flavor of a freshly made white corn tortilla. it's like probably... my favorite bread ever and it's so satisfying and soaks up sauce like a CHAMP. these buns lasted my family of three a week in the fridge. we'd normally only need to split one bun per meal since they're just that huge!!! COULDN"T RECOMMEND MORE. i've literally never had a bun made like this before, and now i can't go back to the typical super sweet fluffy buns that taste good but aren't satiating. i'm still trying to work my head around how they managed to get this beautiful texture and flavor into this bun, but in the meantime, i'll be sure to stop by here anytime i get a carb craving :) ”
